Costume and Textile Association of New Zealand (CTANZ) Symposium 7-8 July 2016, Massey University, Wellington.
The organising committee of the CTANZ symposium, Nature Now, is pleased to announce that an exhibition will be held in conjunction with the symposium at Massey University, Wellington.
We would like to invite submissions of work by contemporary practitioners that engages with the symposium theme, Nature Now. Submitted work can include 2D, 3D and video-based work/s.
NATURE NOW: The natural world has long been a source of raw materials for textiles and clothing, from dyes to fabrics. Nature has provided a rich spring of inspiration for design and driven human innovation from creative systems to form, function and decoration. Today, the impact of the textile and clothing industries on the natural world, has provoked ethical and environmental debates and a call for change in industry and consumer culture.
To be considered for the exhibition, please submit a project description of 300 words (max) and 2 to 3 three images by Monday 8 February 2016 to S.T.Prescott@massey.ac.nz
Save your project description in the following format: surname_first name.docx and images: surname_first name.jpeg1/2/3
All creative works must be new and original and not have been exhibited or disseminated before. Submissions will be reviewed by a peer-review curatorial panel and decisions announced by 29 February 2016. The exhibition will be accompanied by a catalogue. Exhibiting artists and designers are expected to attend the CTANZ symposium. Applicants are required to be members of the Costume and Textile Association of New Zealand (CTANZ). Membership details available at www.costumeandtextile.co.nz.
Shipping and insurance of work will be at expense of the artist/designer and you are expected to be onsite for installation on Wednesday 6 July 2016.
